
The pomegranate is a tree whose fruits are appreciated all over the world, native to Western Asia, it has been widespread since ancient times in the Mediterranean basin and in the Caucasus. It is a tree that does not present growing difficulties, it resists well to the arid summer temperatures, so much so that it is also cultivated in some regions of tropical Africa, and to the mild winters of our peninsula. The flowers of the tree are very beautiful and red in color of course!

The fruit:
it is a berry called Balausta which has a very leathery and resistant skin. Inside it is made up of partitions between the numerous grains, it can contain up to 600 of them, separated by a membrane called cica. On the outside it has a rounded shape with a variable size between 5 and 12 cm. The flavor is very pleasant, sweet and slightly acidic. The chromatic varieties range from ruby ​​red to white.
In cooking, the juice is often used which also eliminates the woody part of the seeds, the latter are used in the composition of sauces, while the dried peel, very fragrant, is used to give the bitter taste to aperitifs and Vermouth.
Tip: if you have an extractor or centrifuge you can prepare excellent drinks with pomegranate seeds, the juice is delicious, invigorating and helps fight the signs of aging. You can also use it to prepare risottos and desserts.

Property:
It is very rich in vitamins of groups B, C, K, proteins and carbohydrates. It contains various mineral salts including potassium, iron, calcium, magnesium and phosphorus and has very few calories, approximately 60 Kcal per 100 grams of product. Pomegranate is a powerful antioxidant that helps reduce oxidative stress in cells, reduces hyperpigmentation, age spots and wrinkles. Useful for lowering LDL cholesterol and as an anticoagulant. The juice has proven to be a valid aid for acne and oily or combination skin.
Beauty:
In recent years, the cosmetics sector has also begun to use pomegranate in the composition of many products to reinvigorate and care for skin and hair. It is in fact a very valid antioxidant that helps prevent the formation of free radicals and tones, giving the skin a more youthful and healthy appearance. The scent is generally pleasant and delicate, on the market you can find lip balms, shampoos, bath oils, anti-wrinkle face creams and foundations.
